005 The Main Bar's “Smiling Bricks” Came From England

As a classic hotel bar where adults gather, the Main Tower bar, Brillant, has been loved by many guests since its opening. When the South Tower opened in 1980, the bar was relocated from the Main Tower to the South Tower. The industrial designer, Riki Watanabe, who is said to have laid the foundation for Japanese modern design, created a calm and elegant atmosphere in the bar.

One of the most impressive features of the bar is the brick walls made from red clay bricks. These traditional, unglazed bricks were transported all the way from Scotland, the birthplace of whiskey, and are known as the “smiling bricks”. The high ceiling was designed to resemble the night sky, and the bricks gently envelop the entire bar. The original high-back chairs provide a comfortable and private seating experience, allowing you to relax and unwind. The bar awaits you to create a memorable and luxurious experience.
