008 The Greenery at Jurin - An Original Musashino Landscape

2017.5.30 Tue.

Jurin, an all-day dining restaurant, was a popular coffee house since its opening and reopened after renovations in 2014.

The panoramic view of greenery visible through the large windows inside the shop is a mixed forest garden created in 1971 by Mitsunori Fukaya, a rare landscape architect who considered himself an "exterior space artist," when the shop opened. This rich natural space is the culmination of Fukaya's strong desire and aesthetic sense to recreate the original landscape of Musashi, a symbol of Tokyo's nature, in a city where skyscrapers stand tall. It has also been selected as one of the "30 Best Green Spaces in Shinjuku." In the grove of trees such as sawtooth oak, zelkova, and maple, where the rustling of leaves in the wind is soothing, there is also a promenade paved with natural stones.

In this season of fresh greenery, please take your time to enjoy the nostalgic and soothing charm of Musashi woodlands, whether you are inside the shop or taking a stroll through them.
