Most of the bread served at Keio Plaza Hotel’s restaurants, lounges, and banquet halls is handmade by our in-house boulanger in a dedicated kitchen. Some of our staff start as early as 2:30 AM, spending the entire day preparing the bread. It’s quite astonishing that we produce up to 4,000 pieces of bread in a single day.
To meet the expectations of our guests who look forward to enjoying the delicious taste of hotel-made bread, we offer a wide variety of bread. This ranges from traditional bread made using recipes from our first bakery chef when the hotel opened in 1971, to bread made with our own homemade yeast, and even original creations that reflect seasonal and contemporary tastes. Additionally, our monthly bread, crafted by a different boulanger each month, is also very popular.
Our boulanger put their love and passion into each piece of bread, often saying things like, “It’s fun to protect the deliciousness of bread while considering the ever-changing temperature and humidity,” and “Bread is a living thing, it’s like a child.” Even today, they continue to deliver the unique taste and joy of Keio Plaza Hotel bread to many guests.
