016 Art Feature II - Japanese Paper (Washi) Art

2017.10.27 Fri.

“Washi” (Japanese paper) is a traditional craft that has garnered much attention, including being registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. At the Club Lounge of our premier grand club floor, Premier Grand, beautiful washi art pieces add a rich and elegant touch to the space. The first thing you will notice upon entering the lounge is the magnificent panoramic view through the windows, and the grand Echizen washi artwork that was inspired by the mountain ranges visible in the distance. Each piece was carefully crafted by artisans, with gold flakes and crushed pearls sprinkled to create a delicate and subtle color palette. The same artwork can also be found in the lounge and library zones, and it is a delightful experience to appreciate the unique differences in each piece. Additionally, the washi art on the glass partition between the lounge and dining area is a representation of Japanese culture, Aizome (indigo dye), created using handmade washi paper from Tokushima Prefecture. We invite you to experience the elegance and warmth of washi art during your stay.
