071 Little Museum in a Hotel - Lobby Gallery

2021.7.6 Tue.

Since its opening, Keio Plaza Hotel has displayed art pieces throughout the hotel. After going through various stages such as an art salon, the permanent gallery in the Main Tower 3rd floor (3F) lobby was established in 1992. The Lobby Gallery mainly features contemporary art pieces from famous and emerging artists, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, prints, kimonos, and more. The gallery hosts various solo exhibitions, each lasting about 9 days, and has become a beloved little art museum within the hotel.

Unlike traditional museums, the Lobby Gallery is open for anyone to freely enjoy. It is one of the many ways Keio Plaza Hotel embodies its core philosophy of being a “cultural hub.” One of the unique aspects of the gallery is that the hotel itself plans and selects the artists. With the goal of creating a comfortable space for guests of all nationalities, genders, and religions, the gallery carefully chooses exhibition themes and artists, often incorporating seasonal elements and meaningful messages.

Each solo exhibition typically displays 50 to 60 pieces, with the possibility of showcasing up to 100 pieces including the lobby area. The spacious gallery is also popular among artists, with some taking up to two years to prepare for their exhibition.
Exhibition announcements are regularly posted on our website. We invite you to visit the gallery during your stay at the hotel and experience the enriching art.
