Since opening as Japan’s first skyscraper hotel, Keio Plaza Hotel has always prioritized the safety and security of our guests and staff. We believe that “ensuring your safety and security is the highest form of service,” and under the guidance of our security, disaster prevention, and hygiene management teams, all hotel staff undergo daily training and maintain a high level of awareness towards disaster preparedness.

In 2005, we established a “Working Team for Earthquake Preparedness” to expand our in-house training. During the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, many guests who were unable to return home spontaneously gathered at our hotel, trusting that “Keio Plaza Hotel will do something” and “this is a safe place.” Our staff continued to serve and assist these guests, gaining invaluable lessons in the process.

We have also implemented unique initiatives such as creating portable communication cards in five languages with illustrations to assist in evacuation guidance for international guests, conducting emergency transport drills with large-sized foreign guests in mind, and holding an evacuation drill in 2020 that included guide dogs and service dogs.

Over the past three years, we have conducted an average of 440 disaster drills annually, ranging from large-scale drills to smaller, department-level training sessions during late-night hours. These effective and practical drills have earned us numerous awards, including recognition from the Tokyo Disaster Prevention and Emergency Association. Furthermore, our comprehensive efforts in disaster drills, fire prevention management, and activities in the Self-Defense Firefighting Association were honored with the prestigious “Fire Department Commissioner’s Letter of Appreciation” from the Tokyo Fire Department on October 20, 2021.

Keio Plaza Hotel has always strived to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining meticulous disaster preparedness and security measures. In the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are fully committed to implementing infection control measures, including thorough cleaning and disinfection, as well as proposing new banquet styles, to ensure our guests can stay and enjoy our services with peace of mind.
