At Keio Plaza Hotel, our chefs take great care and time to prepare each dish, using only the finest ingredients and recipes. We wanted to share the unique taste of our hotel’s cuisine with families at home, which led to the creation of our first canned product, shark fin soup, in 1974.
Our canned shark fin soup was made using a traditional recipe, with a rich chicken broth and premium shark fin. At the time, it was rare to have authentic Chinese cuisine in canned form, and it quickly became popular as a souvenir and gift. This success led to the release of six more canned Chinese dishes in 1977, including Chinese-style corn soup and cold steamed chicken.
Today, we continue to develop new products to suit modern tastes, and our selection has become more diverse. In addition to our long-selling shark fin soup, we also offer handmade sweets and bread crafted by our hotel’s pastry chefs and bakers. These items are available at our Food Boutique, Poppins, as well as through our online shop. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we even introduced delivery services for Japanese boxed meals and French hors d'oeuvres, which have been well received by customers who are unable to visit the hotel in person.
