With the facilities department, which states that "the hotel environment itself is the service," at the helm, Keio Plaza Hotel has a group of facility management specialists responsible for managing and maintaining the hotel's facilities and equipment. They demonstrate professional knowledge and skills that do not rely solely on mechanical systems. One example is temperature control, which is a crucial service. In particular, they say that manual control is essential for managing the air conditioning in banquets, where the appropriate temperature fluctuates depending on the purpose, time of day, and number of people. Thermometers installed in each venue are monitored in a central control room, and the temperature is adjusted in close cooperation with on-site staff. This accumulation of meticulous know-how increases customer satisfaction and contributes to improving the value of the hotel.
Furthermore, Keio Plaza Hotel, which was the first to introduce a state-of-the-art district heating and cooling system when it opened, has also actively engaged in environmental measures for many years while valuing cooperation with the local community. In particular, the large-scale energy-saving measures implemented from 2010 to 2011 included the construction of a system that circulates chilled water supplied from the district heating and cooling center from the lower floors to the upper floors with minimal power, resulting in a significant reduction in power consumption related to water supply.
In addition, Keio Plaza Hotel has been a pioneer in addressing various challenges long before the SDGs were even promoted, including purifying and reusing kitchen wastewater, recycling food waste, and implementing barrier-free measures.
