About Winning the Grand Prize at the Eco Mark Award 2025

Keio Plaza Hotel has been awarded the highest honor, the “Grand Prize,” in the Eco Mark Award 2025, an award system hosted by the Japan Environment Association, a public interest incorporated foundation. This award has been held once a year since 2010, and this is the second highest honor awarded to the hotel industry. Since the title was changed to “Grand Prize” in 2017, this is the first time in the industry that this honor has been awarded.

About the Eco Mark Award 2025
Established in 2010, this award system is held once a year and is hosted by the Japan Environment Association. It recognizes companies and organizations that have made significant contributions to the formation of a sustainable society through consumers' environmentally conscious product selections and companies' efforts in environmental improvements. It is one of the most prestigious awards in Japan regarding environmental considerations.

Eco Mark Certification for Hotels & Inns

Our environmental initiatives, such as the reuse of drainage and waste oil, and the reduction of plastic and greenhouse gas emissions, have been recognized and we have obtained the Eco Mark certification for “Hotels and Inns” under the Eco Mark Product Type No. 503 “Hotels and Inns Version 2.1” established by the Japan Environment Association.

• The Eco Mark “Hotel & Ryokan” certification has been approved as a sustainability certification system by Travalyst, a global partnership that includes major reservation websites.

Tokyo’s “For a Barrier-Free Mind” Support Company

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has registered Keio Plaza Hotel as a “Kokoro no Barrier-Free (For a Barrier-Free Mind) Support Company,” which recognizes companies that have made outstanding efforts in facility development and service provision with consideration for the elderly and people with disabilities. We will continue to provide heartfelt hospitality that is close to our customers’ hearts.

“For a Barrier-Free Mind” Certification

In addition to the physical aspects, we are also actively working on enhancing the soft aspects, such as employee training programs that promote the “For a Barrier-Free Mind” concept. In September 2021, we were certified under the “Barrier-Free Mind Certification System for Tourism Facilities” established by the Japan Tourism Agency, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Keio Plaza Hotel Chain Joins the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)

In October 2024, we became the first Japanese hotel chain to join the Global Sustainable Tourism Council® (GSTC), an organization that establishes and manages international standards for sustainable travel and tourism. As we continue to welcome many international guests, we are committed to providing all our guests with a comfortable and environmentally friendly stay based on these international standards, while contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

30 Selected Greenery In & Around Shinjuku

The woodland next to the all-day dining restaurant,< Jurin > was selected as one of Shinjuku's 30 Green Spots in January 1994. It is beloved by hotel guests and the local community alike.

• Keio Plaza Hotel supports the “Green Curtain” initiative promoted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Environment.

JFS Standard (Food Service) Certification

Our efforts in hygiene management towards providing safe and secure food were recognized, and we obtained the “JFS Standard (Food Service) Certification” in April 2025, being the first hotel in Tokyo to do so.
