Winner of the "Eco Mark Award 2025" Grand Prize

Keio Plaza Hotel has been awarded the highest honor, the “Grand Prize,” in the Eco Mark Award 2025, an award system hosted by the Japan Environment Association, a public interest incorporated foundation. This award has been held once a year since 2010, and this is the second highest honor awarded to the hotel industry. Since the title was changed to “Grand Prize” in 2017, this is the first time in the industry that this honor has been awarded.

What is the Eco Mark Award?
The Eco Mark Award was established in 2010 and is hosted by the Japan Environment Association. It is an annual award ceremony that recognizes companies and organizations that have made significant contributions towards the formation of a sustainable society through environmentally conscious product choices by consumers and environmental improvement efforts by businesses. It is one of the most prestigious awards in Japan for environmental consideration.

Eco Mark Certification for Hotels & Inns

Our environmental initiatives, such as the reuse of drainage and waste oil, and the reduction of plastic and greenhouse gas emissions, have been recognized and we have obtained the Eco Mark certification for “Hotels and Inns” under the Eco Mark Product Type No. 503 “Hotels and Inns Version 2.1” established by the Japan Environment Association.

• The Eco Mark certification for hotels and inns has been recognized as a sustainability certification system by Travalyst, a global partnership that includes major online travel agencies.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government “For a Barrier-Free Mind” Support Company Registration

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has registered us as a “For a Barrier-Free Mind Support Company,” recognizing our outstanding efforts in creating facilities and providing services that consider the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities. We will continue to offer hospitality that touches the hearts of our guests.

“For a Barrier-Free Mind” Certified Tourism Facility

In addition to the physical aspects, we are also actively working on enhancing the soft aspects, such as employee training programs that promote the “For a Barrier-Free Mind” concept. In September 2021, we were certified under the “Barrier-Free Mind Certification System for Tourism Facilities” established by the Japan Tourism Agency, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Registered as a “Company/Organization Supporting the Concept of an Inclusive Society”

Our company has been registered as a “Company/Organization Supporting the Concept of an Inclusive Society” by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in recognition of our proactive efforts towards understanding and supporting people with disabilities.

Member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)

In October 2024, we became the first Japanese hotel chain to join the Global Sustainable Tourism Council® (GSTC), an organization that establishes and manages international standards for sustainable travel and tourism. As we continue to welcome many international guests, we are committed to providing all our guests with a comfortable and environmentally friendly stay based on these international standards, while contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

Selected as one of the “30 Best Green Spaces in Shinjuku”

The woodland next to the all-day dining restaurant,< Jurin > was selected as one of Shinjuku's 30 Green Spots in January 1994. It is beloved by hotel guests and the local community alike.

• Keio Plaza Hotel supports the “Green Curtain” initiative promoted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Environment.

JFS Certification (Food Service)

Our efforts in hygiene management to provide safe and secure food have been recognized, and in April 2025, we became the first hotel in Tokyo to receive "JFS Standard (Food Service) Certification."
