Japanese Culture
Kimono Experience
At the Keio Department Store Shinjuku located inside our hotel, we offer a kimono experience plan that allows you to casually experience traditional Japanese culture. After selecting your favorite design of kimono and having it put on for you, you can enjoy taking commemorative photos in the hotel lobby, or even go out wearing it. We also have various other experiences available, such as an ikebana (flower arrangement) experience while wearing a kimono, a plan where you can have a professional photographer take your pictures and then turn them into a hanging scroll by yourself, and a plan where you can wear traditional Japanese bridal attire. We aim to provide our guests with opportunities to touch upon the charm of Japanese culture, while contributing to the preservation of these traditions.
Cultural Experience Workshop
Our experience workshops feature unique art pieces each month, with themes centered around Japanese culture and seasonal events. Through the process of creating these pieces by hand, we aim to provide an opportunity for guests to appreciate the depth and beauty of Japan's rich cultural heritage.

Jindaiji Temple Prayer Ceremony Experience
Keio Tourist Service arranged a special experience for our guests, “MIYABI - the elegance of old times -” plan, which included a Shinto prayer ceremony at the ancient temple, Jindaiji. Our guests changed into traditional Japanese kimono at the hotel, and were driven in a private car to the temple. At the temple, a monk threw pieces of wood (called goma) into the flames of a ceremonial fire, praying for the fulfillment of their wishes. After the ceremony, they enjoyed a stroll around the temple grounds and a kaiseki meal at Suijin-en, a beautiful Japanese garden located within the temple grounds. We are committed to deepening our connection with the local community and providing special experiences that utilize local resources.
Holding Hida Takayama Exhibition Event
In October 2024, the museum exhibited precious traditional crafts from Hida Takayama and photographs of the beautiful scenery of each season. The special exhibition included a display of "Kumihimo" (braided cords), which appeared in a hit animated film, and a corner where visitors could actually try making braided cords. A model of a Takayama Festival float, designated an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan, was also on display, entertaining visitors. Furthermore, in conjunction with the cultural exhibition, Teppanyaki > offered a special "Takumi" lunch and dinner course menu featuring Hida beef, proactively promoting the traditional culture unique to Hida Takayama.
