Universal Services

Universal Services
Leading The Hotel Industry

Keio Plaza Hotel’s efforts to promote barrier-free accommodations began in 1988 when the hotel served as the venue for the World Congress of Rehabilitation International. In preparation for the event, the hotel established 15 universal rooms. Since then, the hotel has continued to improve its services and accommodations for guests with visual and hearing impairments. In March 2002, the hotel added 10 new universal rooms based on feedback from guests and advice from a barrier-free architectural design firm.
In 2018, the universal rooms were redesigned with a more refined and elegant aesthetic to provide guests with a luxurious experience. Additionally, three new, larger luxury-type universal rooms were added, bringing the total number of universal rooms to 13.

Omotenashi* That Touches Your Heart

In addition to the physical aspects, we are also actively working on enhancing the soft aspects, such as employee training programs that promote the “For a Barrier-Free Mind” concept. In September 2021, we were certified under the “Barrier-Free Mind Certification System for Tourism Facilities” established by the Japan Tourism Agency, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Working to promote the active participation of people with disabilities
Initiative

Keio Plaza Hotel has endorsed "The Valuable 500(*)", an initiative promoting the advancement of persons with disabilities. We actively conduct various in-house training sessions and projects to ensure that each of our staff members can provide services that truly resonate with our guests, and make appropriate suggestions. Through these efforts, we strive to enhance our universal services.

Keio Plaza Hotel's Commitment

  • We strive to create an environment where all guests, regardless of disability, can enjoy a safe and comfortable stay at our hotel.
  • We promote “For a Barrier-Free Mind” among our employees, so that we can provide services and make appropriate suggestions that truly resonate with each and every one of our guests.
  • We will continue the activities of our cross-departmental team, which focuses on barrier-free and universal design concepts.
  • We promote the creation of a workplace where diverse talents can thrive, regardless of disability.
  • Through our public relations activities, we actively share the initiatives of Keio Plaza Hotel both inside and outside the company.

(*) “The Valuable 500” is an initiative launched at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting on January 24, 2019, aimed at promoting the participation and success of people with disabilities. It was established under the concept of “inclusive businesses create an inclusive society,” with the goal of inspiring business leaders to drive reforms that enable people with disabilities to realize their potential and contribute value to business, society, and the economy.

Community Collaboration

Collaboration with Producers

Our chefs personally visit the places of origin to procure fresh ingredients from various fishing ports and farms. Through the trust and strong relationships we have built with these producers, we are able to bring seasonal ingredients to our guests.

Plaza Ideology

“PLAZA Pride Cocktail”
LGBTQ+ Friendly Theme Cocktail

Since our opening, Keio Plaza Hotel has upheld the “Plaza Ideology.” The Shinjuku area has long been known for its affinity with diversity, which inspired us to create and sell six cocktails based on the colors of the rainbow flag, a symbol of LGBTQ+ pride. (May 31, 2023 - July 31, 2023)
Each cocktail represents the meaning behind the colors of the flag, using different ingredients and presentation styles to showcase their beauty.
